Chapter Two: Recognizing the Energy Around You

This week we dive into the book, Personal Power Through Awareness. In this early chapter, we learn energy makes up everything around us and we can learn to sense that energy. In order to be able to sense energy and work with it, we cultivate a relaxed stance in the world. Orin offers the technique of making your mind go blank, or turn it into a white screen, in order to reset your energy if you are in a distressing situation or encounter feelings you would like to change. We practice using our imagination to visualize a rose, to recognize we already have the skill we need to begin working with energy.

Blessings and welcome to Miriam's meditations. So excited that you are here are very excited to be sharing with you our personal power through awareness, which I have started to call our spiritual book club. Because this is a beautiful spiritual book written by Cynthia Roman, it's a channel book and our guide is Oren will have some information about the book in the notes from the show. So in case you haven't picked up the book yet, I encourage you to do so and read along with the exercises and youth practices. We're just in the very beginning of our book, and we're in chapter two. And the very first instruction that Oren gives us is to sit in a comfortable position. And close your eyes. And notice what is happening around you that you can sense even with your eyes closed. What are you hearing? What are you smelling? What's the temperature? See if you can sense the energy of your home around you. If you'd like to open your eyes, you can do so and then look around your world. Notice everything you can that's coming in through your eyes, the details of the world around you. Through the addition to the senses that we have what we think of as our five senses, we have the ability to sense energy whether or not you're aware of your ability to sense energy, you are sensing energy all the time, and you are actually making decisions based on your sensing of energy. It's as though there's a movie running through your head of all the things that you are sensing. And there's an energy signature, accompanying all of the stimulus, all of the flows of emotion, all of the thoughts that you have the thoughts that others have. And everything in your physical environment has energy. So as I'm speaking, I'd like you to turn your attention to your breath. And just notice what you can about your inner being your body as you're coming into contact with your breath. So we have our outer energies, all of that in the expressed world around us. And we have an inner will. And in our breath practice that we have been doing all these mini journeys together, we have been learning quite a bit about our inner realm. Our emotional flow. How is our physical body doing today? With thoughts are we having the interconnectedness between thoughts and emotions, these are all things that we have explored together that form your inner being. But one thing that's very important in terms of learning about energy, especially those energies that surround us, is the ability to visualize creating an image within you. Now some of us are more visual than others. And your inner visualization may be simply recognizing colors or flows or patterns. Let's see if you can imagine a single Rose. Rose is a fairly common flower. It's a thing of great beauty. And something that we can easily imagine. You're a man imagination and your visualization are very powerful tools that we will use as we move along to interact with the energies that surround us. Now you may have thought that visualizing or imagining was just for play something that might yield a creative output. But sort of not that important. It will be a lovely surprise for you to recognize how powerful visualizing and imagination are in helping us to interact with fields of energy around us. So your rows Your act of visualizing this is just as simple exercise to help you understand that you already know how to do this process of visualizing. And that you will already reacting and interacting with energy around you. So what we will be doing is bringing this awareness, fully conscious, so that you are aware when you are doing it and how it impacts you, and what you can do about it back to our breathing now, as we have been all these many months working with our breath, we've used the power of the breath. To recognize how we can do airway that we can work with energy. So, just recognize that that is an additional tool that you already have an awareness of your breath and how it works, the power that it brings. And one of the most spectacular things had our breath can do for us is to help us relax and soften and shift our mood, our emotional flow. So as you're breathing now, and recognizing how your breath flow is in this moment give yourself a mental suggestion that as you move through the world, you will use the power of your breath and your awareness of how you're breathing as a tool for relaxation, in any moment, moving through the world in a relaxed open status, a kind of fluidity that moves us even to smiling and a joyful feeling a kind of rightness with the world. So our mutual suggestion is that as you leave your meditation practice and move out into the world, that you will easily be able to use your breath to come to a more relaxed position in the world. If something has crossed your energy field that is distressing, or upsetting, or even something that you would like to see shift or change the more you can move through the world in this relaxed status the easier it is going to be to read the energies around you and the more effective you will be in making them change. For it is our teaching. You cannot move energy, you're not cannot create a shift from a negative emotional stance. So your first action will be to shift that. And one way you can do that is with your breath. So let's take a moment right now to do some of our breath practice so that we keep our skills up. And we use this to fold into our practice of discovering energies around us using our other tools that will learn to be effective and using the energy. So breathing in and breathing out just a relaxed open mouth exhalation. Let's do that again. Breathe in and exhale. Really fully exhale. And one more time breathing in and breathing out and there is a little pause there. We took a little pause holding the breath, retaining it for just a moment. Now bring the first two fingers of your right hand to touch your forehead. We are going to draw spirals on our forehead with her fingertips spiraling to 36 moving toward the left first opening to the light 12345 My 678-910-1112 1314 1516 1718 1920 2120 320-425-2620 720-829-3031 30 230-334-3536 Pause. Breathe in your third eye and exhale out your third eye cleansed and cleared lens of perception. That is the third eye. Now, heart mind uniting breath. Breathe in at your third eye and exhale into your heart, allowing the collected energy that the breath is carried to drop into the heart. Breathe in again, your third eye and exhale, easily surrendering to the heart. Breathe in at your third eye and exhale freely into your heart, heart and mind begin to blend. Now inhale at your heart, allow the breath to rise, the lifting up into the mind blending there and exhaling back down into the sweetness of the heart. Inhale at your heart, the breath rises, illuminating the mind and exhaling back down into the heart. Heart and Mind are one. Once more breathe into the heart. Allow the breath to rise and exhale back down into the sweetness of the heart. Now if you brought your your left hand up to your heart, you can let your left hand drop back to your left right hand remains at the third I will do a few rounds of alternate nostril breathing. First of all, Inhale through both sides of your nose and exhale through both sides of your nose. Use your thumb to close off your right nostril and breathe in the left side only. Close off that nostril with your fingers. Lift up yourself. breathe out breathe in same side close off with your sub lift up your fingers breathe out breathe insane out other insane out other insane out other breathe in same and let your hand drop to your lap and breathe out both sides of your nose let's do a retained breath. Just a gentle retention breath. Inhale fully rising to the top. Pause and Retain the breath stretch and open around the breath. And then open your mouth and let it go. Really exhale fully and completely. And let's do one more breathing. Pause and Retain the breath stretch and open around the breath and exhale open your eyes palms up. Let's do a couple of cleansing breaths. Breathe in. Exhale, three short puffs. Again, breathe in. Exhale hands dropped to your lap eyes closed. When minor Yogi exercise inhale as you are breathing in Arc your arms and place your palms above your head and a prayer pose. I call forth the perfect blueprint of my being. And exhale as your arms drop down to your lap. Notice the place to which the breath is carried you require quiet clear, open meditative space recognize the space. This is the space from which it is the most easy to interact with things as energy to find them as energy. Nomads imagine that you're walking through your day things are going okay pretty well. And you will encounter something that causes you stress or upset. I will give you a little example from my own life. As I've been working with these concepts and skills this week. I walk my dog every week, every day, same place. There is a dog in my neighborhood whose people do not take her out for walks. This makes me very sad. And every day I see the dog at the door watching us go by on our walk. And my heart just breaks for this beautiful dog that does not get to go for walks. And I wanted to do something for the dog or for the people even. But I can't manage to take care of the dog. I've met the dog out and about a time or two and she's a lot to handle, which may be why her people don't want her. And I'm having all of these thoughts. And my mood just spirals down. It's very difficult to feel our energy has changed thinking about this situation. But I did not like the way this made me feel. And it was all in my own thoughts. They didn't ask me to care for the dog. So I decided I was going to use one of the principles in this chapter that we are working on. And Oren calls it making your mind a blank screen. So I admit that as I worked with this for several days, I still had the sad feelings about the stock. But I kept doing what Oren recommended, which was make your mind a white screen. Just imagine right now, as I've been telling you this story that your mind can just go blank. And you imagine a white screen. So my thoughts have stopped. I'm not adding to my inner situation, the mood drop that I was experiencing. And it took me a few days of encountering this situation over and over and I just made the white screen. As I walked by. I wasn't trying to change the situation. Or even trying to change my mood. I was just trying to get a hang of the white screen. And then yesterday, my dog and I walked by the House and the white screen just appeared and my mood did not change. I stayed with a higher pleasant energy that I had been feeling as I had set out of this beautiful spring day to walk my little dog who loves to go out and see what's going on in the neighborhood and what happened And with that now, I could find white, light, joyful, uplifting, white light, to surround this beautiful dog and her person, I no longer had judgmental thoughts about the person and why they might not be walking their dog. I just was able to find the white screen, the blank mind, I stayed with my own energy in my joyful place. And I sent them light. And I felt so much better and more alive, because it was an effective action, our thoughts, our energy, every time you have a thought it has an energy signature. And you know, in your emotional body, whether that energy signature is uplifting, or a downward spiral, uplifting, uplifting there, let's stay there. So this is something that you can use as a tool, as you're moving about encountering an energy. And one could say that perhaps I moved into the field of the dog, and the person and I felt their energy. And I interacted with it. And I felt sad. So I made an energy contribution to my own life by shifting my energy. And I'm not trying to do anything to the people, or the dog. I'm simply offering light where there was less light, offering more light, beautiful, light, uplifting, light, joyful, light, caring, light, compassionate light, I care about my neighbor, and I care about this dog. So now instead of adding to the despair, that is stress, my added light, I added something uplifting. And I feel different. I am moving through the world in a different way. And it it took a little practice, honestly. And I've been doing this sort of thing for many years. I was surprised at how challenging that it was. But it really in the end did not take that long. I just had to kind of stay with it. So if the first or second time that you try this. You're not sure if you've had success, just do it again. And do it again and do it again. Breathe into it. So as I'm walking around my neighborhood I am breathing and I breathing in the beautiful sunshine. I'm adding light to my field. I am contributing to the mass consciousness of my small neighborhood and uplifted sort of mood. Something that carries a signature of grace. I am earnestly endeavoring to create a positive field of energy that I carry with me everywhere I go. So you sensitive being you who feel the world so deeply recognize that sometimes perhaps even often. Those feelings that you are encountering as you move through the world are not even yours. They are energy that you are picking up from the world around you. This is one way to create a shift in your own being to try and think new thoughts on the other side of the blank mind the white screen. So take a moment and think of something in your world something fairly easy, not a number 10 issue that you've been carrying around for a long time. It's something simple. And you imagine yourself moving through and encountering this challenging energy field. If you would have really liked to have something to offer this, what can I do about this you can change your energy signature which changes your emotional energy that changes the thoughts you have around this and opens that space that softens you so that you can offer your highest light that you are creating all right, in our lovely little book, there are a couple of more exercises, one that helps you learn a new way to relax. And I'll leave it to you to read that in the book. Make it playful, and joyful just recognizing that as you move through the world, everything around you has an energy signature then it with our visualization and imagination, we will begin to build skills to be able to interact with these energies and positive, fruitful, purposeful ways now I'd like to do one more meditation. This is not in the book. This comes from a Qigong master named Robert Payne and I'll put some information about Robert in my notes for this episode. But this is an exercise in syncing energy and we begin with our eyes open. So, you open your eyes and notice the sights, the sounds, notice the smells, the temperature of the room you are in or the space you are in and notice the space around you now close your eyes become aware of your inner world. Notice the images the thoughts the emotions and the memories floating inside you. Now leave your eyes closed and become aware of your outer world. Notice the sights, sounds, smells, the temperature and the space around you. Now open your eyes and become aware of your inner world. The images the thoughts, the emotions and the memories floating inside you. Now keep your eyes open and become aware of both the outer and the inner world. The sights, the images the sounds, the thoughts the smells. The emotions. The temperature are the memories floating inside and the space around you now close your eyes and become aware of both the outer and the inner world the sights, the images the sounds, the thoughts the smells, the emotions the temperature the memories floating inside and the space around you now let go of all experience and dissolve the outer into the inner world into nothingness and become aware of awareness itself awaken your awareness become aware that you are awakened awareness that is your true nature. Now imagine there is this tiny smiling face, at the very bottom of your abdomen, deep inside you a smiling face and imagine this smiling face is lifting like a bubble in the water floating to the surface. And as the smiling face is lifting it becomes larger and larger moving through your body until it arrives, you your head and you get a large broad smile across your face. And the smile the floating smile just pops you have this beautiful smile upon your face and the sun is shining smiling upon you imagine that smile on your face is the sun shining a beautiful light upon all the cells in your body. All the cells in your body are illuminated with this brilliant light. nourished by your smiling attention by your practice your breathing and as you move out into the world after your practice today Remember, to be relaxed, to be open to the world to practice the white mind with a blank mind whichever works better for you as you move through the world as a technique to reset your energy to this relaxed place so that you can breathe in light and breathe out light and add it to any situation that you come to that you will remember this is your practice for this week.
